About me

From 1991 to 1994, Douglas J. Greenlaw served as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Whittle Communications’ Venture Division as well as President of Channel One News.

From 1994 to 1996, Greenlaw held the position of President and Chief Operating Officer of Multimedia Inc., a publicly-traded corporation. He also served on Multimedia’s Board of Directors and was Chairman of its Executive Committee.  Multimedia was a diversified media company owning radio and television stations, cable systems, newspapers (including The Greenville News), and an entertainment division responsible for television talk show programming (Donahue, Sally Jesse Raphael and Jerry Springer). Gannett Inc. purchased Multimedia in 1996.

From 1999 to 2005, Greenlaw served as Chief Executive Officer and Director of Switchboard, Inc., an Internet-based merchant network, and from 1997 to 1999 as he served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Princeton Video Image.  He led each of these companies through successful initial public offerings.

 

Previously, he had been President of Sales and Promotional Marketing for MTV Networks, a division of Viacom. He was a member of the Executive Committee of MTV Networks and was in senior leadership positions with MTV, VH-1, Nickelodeon, Nick at Nite, and MTV Networks International, which involved the planning for MTV Europe, Latin America, and Asia.

 

Over the past 21 years, he has served as Co-Founder of Community Journals and has been an integral part of the company’s success. Currently, Greenlaw is on the Board of Directors of Alcentra Capital/Bank of New York/Mellon. The Board supervised the IPO of Alcentra in 2014. Greenlaw is a cum laude graduate of Indiana University, majoring in Communications, and received an Honorary PHD in Humane Letters from Lindenwood University, St. Louis, MO in 2013.

Greenlaw was recently on the Board of Directors of Alcentra Capital, Alcentra/Bank of New York/Mellon, which has now been merged with a strategic partner at 100% of NAV.

Greenlaw served as National Commander of the Military Order of the Purple Heart, USA, 2018-2019. The order is the leading Veteran Service Organization in the Country and the leading advocate for all 500,000 Combat  Wounded Purple Heart recipients in America.  He is also on the Board of Directors of The Purple Heart Foundation and Board Member of The Purple Heart Hall of Honor.  Greenlaw is the recipient of the Silver Star, 2 Bronze Stars, and 2 Purple Hearts for his service in the US Army as a 1st Lieutenant Infantry Platoon Leader and Infantry Company Commander in Vietnam in 1967/1968.  He is married to Lynn and has one Son, Mackinley (Mack).

 

Greenlaw is a seasoned explorer and adventurer.  He has climbed Mt. Kilimanjaro in Tanzania, Africa, Mt. Aconcagua in Argentina, SA and has wilderness backpacked in Africa, South America, Latin America, China, Vietnam, Japan, Russia, India, and the US Appalachian Trail. He plans to backpack into the unexplored jungles of Honduras, cross country ski from Norway to the North Pole and climb Mt. Vinson, the highest peak in Antarctica.  Greenlaw received his certification as a US Army Jungle Expert in Panama, Latin America.
